Pallikoodam
Pallikoodam – Welcome Back to
school
OVERALL REVIEW:
Pallikoodam is a good effort by cinematographer-turned director Thangar
Bachan who has taken up a community cause and made a fascinating story
of it with the right mix of romance and emotion.
CASTING:
THANGAR BACHAN (Kumarasamy): He plays a farm-hand, and also tries
to bring the District Collector his friend Naren to the village to save
the institution.
NAREN
(Vetrivel): The lead character, who is a ex-student of the school
and working as the District Collector of Kancheepuram. He has played his
character with distinctive emotions.
SNEHA
(Kokila): She plays the role of teacher, who studied with Vetrivel in
the same school, now works there.
All others who has played the role of ex-student Seeman (Muthu), who has
become a cinema director. Sreeya Reddy, who is a nurse running a
dispensary, have done a good job.
DIRECTION:
Director THANGAR BACHAN has to be congratulated for his selection of
social cause theme. The scenes were pictured in pleasant way which
slowly but strongly presents the simplicity, poor but lively nature of
life of village.
MUSIC / SONGS:
Bharathwaj has literally made us to go back to our school days memory by
his song "Meendum Palliku Pogalam" and all other tunes are just
synchronized with the story.
CINEMATOGRAPHY:
THANGAR BACHAN's touch is reflected in the sequences like "Kaadu
Pathunguromae" in which the teachers search for absentees, the meeting
of three friends and "Intha Nimidam, Intha Nimidam" song.
